WBB Preview: Wolverines and Redhawks Visit for Two Matinee Games

RIVERSIDE – Women's basketball will face off with Western Athletic Conference foes Utah Valley and Seattle U in the CBU Events Center this weekend. The pair of games mark the midpoint of league play.

Conference is wide-open, as five of the nine teams already carry at least a pair of loses. The Lancers are looking to jumpstart a second-half campaign with the regular-season title still well within sight.

CBU has gotten a full-team effort in the past few weeks of WAC play, boasting five different leading scorers in their past six games.

Utah Valley had been in sole possession of first place in the WAC until two straight loses put it in a tie for the top spot with Kansas City. The Roos and the Wolverines have played once this season with Utah Valley winning the first game convincingly, 62- 41.

Utah Valley has the second highest field goal percentage in the conference at 41.5, trailing the top mark owned by Grand Canyons at 42.6.

In two meetings between the squads, CBU holds a 2-0 advantage over the Wolverines. In their game at the CBU Events Center last season, the Lancers dished out 29 assists, the second most in a WAC game last season.

The last time the Redhawks visited the Lancers, CBU shot a season high 64.1 percent from the field. That is the highest field goal percentage allowed to an opponent by Seattle U in the available statistical history of Redhawks women's basketball.

This season, SU is off to an 8-12 start overall, and 2-5 in the WAC. Most recently, Seattle U defeated CSU Bakersfield at the Redhawk Center to earn that second conference win.

Seattle's Kamira Sanders is currently second on the WAC scoring list at 17.4 points per game. Her season includes a pair of 30-point efforts and four more 20-plus point games.
