2/17/2020 3:13:00 PM | Men's Basketball
RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University's men's basketball team will hit the road this week, as the Lancers take on Kansas City on Feb. 19 and Chicago State on Feb. 22.
The Lancers (18-7, 7-3 WAC) are currently in sole possession of second place in the conference standings. Over the last 10 games, the Lancers have gone 8-2, and more recently, broke the NCAA record for most wins through the first two seasons of the NCAA Division I transition period while being considered an RPI counter from a scheduling standpoint. The criteria for being an RPI counter, now known as NET, is that the schedule must not include any more than four non-DI opponents in a season.
If you remove the RPI qualifier and simply count wins against DI opponents, the record is held by Grand Canyon and Seattle U at 30. The Lancers currently have 26 wins and are five wins away from breaking the record set by the Lopes and the Redhawks. The Lancers will end their season with six straight games against DI opponents.
The Lancers have been true road warriors in the WAC this season, boasting an undefeated 4-0 record against WAC opponents. Currently, the Lancers are tied for ninth in the nation for the longest active road winning streak with five. The streak dates back to Dec. 7, 2019, when the Lancers took down UC Irvine, 68-60. The Lancers and the Aggies are the last two undefeated teams in the WAC on the road.
