RIVERSIDE --- The Blue Ribbon College Basketball Preview released its lookahead to the 2025-26 season, and with that came some high praise for the Lancers. CBU has been picked to win the WAC, while guard Dominique Daniels Jr. was named Preseason WAC Player of the Year.
Daniels is one of five players named to the Blue Ribbon's All-Conference Team. Daniels averaged 19.6 PPG last season for the Lancers, including a season-high 36 points in CBU's 86-83 win over Utah Tech.
"I think people are going to see one of the best guards in college basketball this year," head coach Rick Croy said regarding Daniels in an interview with Blue Ribbon. "He's really improved as a passer, and we will be playing as more of a true point guard. So I think he's going to be more efficient, and I think he's a much-improved player."
Joining Daniels on the All-Conference Team are Raysean Seamster (UT Arlington), Trevan Leonhardt (Utah Valley), Bradyn Hubbard (Abilene Christian), and Chris Mpaka (Tarleton State).
The Lancers were also selected to win the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in the seven-team poll. This comes after CBU finished their WAC schedule 9-7 a year ago, good enough for a third-place finish. The Lancers' season ended in the WAC semifinals with a loss to eventual conference champion Grand Canyon.
"I was proud of my group," added Croy on the 2024-25 squad. "We made a hard charge down the stretch and won some tough, close games."
Croy later spoke about the team he brings to the floor this season, noting, "We have more depth and more maturity. I feel like we have a chance to be better this season."
The Lancers will begin their season on November 3 when they welcome the University of South Carolina – Upstate to the Fowler Events Center.
