KANSAS CITY --- Milan Acquaah and De'jon Davis led the charge for California Baptist University on Wednesday night, as the Lancers dropped a defensive bout to the Roos of Kansas City, 69-63.
CBU moves into a tie for second place in the WAC with Grand Canyon at 7-4 on the season. The Lancers came into Wednesday's night game tied for ninth in the nation with the longest road winning streak at five in a row. The last time the Lancers lost on the road dates back to Nov. 15, 2019, against Cal.
The Lancers continue the road swing with a game against Chicago State on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10:05 a.m. (PST). The last time these two teams met, the Lancers beat the Cougars, 85-53.
It was the Acquaah and Davis show for most of the night, as the pair combined for 43 of the Lancers' 63 points.
Acquaah finished with a team-high 22 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, while Davis recorded a season-high 21 points, going 7-13 from the field.
Kansas City was in the driver seat for most of the game, holding the lead for 32 of the game's 40 minutes.
The only four ties of the game happened in the first eight minutes of the first half, as each team traded blows.
The Roos put together one of their best shooting performances of the season in the first half, shooting 56.5 percent from the field and 60 percent from the 3-point line.
KC took an eight-point lead at the 8:31 mark after scoring six straight points.
Acquaah broke the drought on the next possession, as Brandon Boyd found Acquaah in the corner. Acquaah made a nice pump fake to draw the defender in the air and knocked down the three to stop the Roos' run.

KC held the Lancers at arm's length for most of the second half, but the Lancers came surging back after baskets by Davis and Tre Armstrong.
Davis helped the Lancers cut the lead to eight after grabbing an offensive rebound and immediately putting it back up.
