Five Lancers Score In Double Figures In Season-Opening Win Over San Francisco State

RIVERSIDE --- After 619 days without fans in attendance, California Baptist University welcomed 4,308 Lancer fans to the CBU Events Center on Tuesday night, as the Lancers opened their season with an 87-65 victory over San Francisco State.
The Lancers led from start to finish, as five players finished in double figures on the night. CBU controlled both sides of the court, outrebounding the Gators, 55-35.

It didn't take long for the Lancers to get going, as Ty Rowell opened the game up with a three-pointer in the corner. It marked Rowell's 178th three in his career, as he entered the game needing four threes to move into fifth all-time in the program's history.

The Rowell three sparked a 12-2 run put on by the Lancers, as Taran Armstrong also got in on the action, scoring his first collegiate points at the 17-minute mark.

The Gators were able to chip away at the lead and even cut it to one possession at the 4:24 mark, but the Lancers would end the first half on a 13-3 run to take a 47-34 lead into the break.
CBU remained in control throughout the final 20 minutes, as the lead never dipped into single digits.
Rowell was able to capture his fourth three of the game at the 5:41 mark to extend the Lancers' lead to 16, 78-62, and move him up to fifth all-time in career three-pointers made with 181.

Moments later, Chance Hunter brought the Lancer faithful to their feet with a monster dunk to keep momentum on their side.

Elijah Thomas followed that up with an and-one nearly 30 seconds later to keep the house rocking until the final horn.

Hunter's debut in the Lancer uniform did not disappoint, as he finished with the season's first double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Hunter finished the night going 7-14 from the field, with one block, one assist, and one steal.
Reed Nottage recorded 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Dan Akin produced 15 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. Rowell finished with 14 points and three assists. Taran Armstrong also made a big splash in his collegiate debut as the final Lancer in double figures and a near triple-double with 12 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.
