FLAGSTAFF – The Lancers got back to their winning ways with a huge road victory over Northern Arizona on Saturday, defeating the Lumberjacks by a score of 89-73 in Flagstaff. California Baptist saw maximum contribution as six Lancers scoring in double-figures, led for the fifth time this season by Caitlyn Harper.
CBU moves to 6-2 on the season while NAU drops to 4-4. The Lumberjacks also lost an 11-game home win streak that it had just improved upon with a 108-77 win over Grand Canyon on Thursday.
Ane Olaeta (13), Dorcas Wu (12), Britney Thomas (12), Trinity San Antonio (10), and Brittany Klaman (10), all joined Harper in scoring double-digits, all stepping up at opportune times to help CBU build the lead and keep the game in hand. Georgia Dale dropped in four points, but grabbed a game-high 10 boards, her third game this season with 10-or-more rebounds.
CBU led for nearly 90% of the game, but struggled to get it going early. The Lancers trailed late in the first quarter, needing a last second pick-and-roll between Olaeta and Harper to even things up after the first ten minutes.
The Lancers found their range in the second quarter, draining six three-pointers after going 0-7 in the first quarter. A 13-0 run in the midst of the second quarter would lead to CBU outscoring the Lumberjacks 26-11 in the period, holding NAU to just three made field goals in the frame.
The Lancers truly put the game away in the third quarter by shooting 58.8% (10-17) from the field, led by Olaeta who scored seven of her 13 points on 3-3 shooting. CBU held a 23-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, which they turned into a 28-point advantage soon after. NAU made a final push, going on a 7-0 and an 8-0 run in the final frame, but it ultimately was too little, too late.

As the Lancers continue with closing out the calendar year on the road, they prepare for a reasonable drive south to La Jolla to take on the Tritons of UC San Diego. The midweek game will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 14, with tipoff planned for noon.
