RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University women's basketball gears up for its final non-conference home game of the year as San Diego State travels to Riverside on Wednesday for a mid-week showdown. The Lancers will then pack up for a trip to Flagstaff, Ariz., to take on the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona on Saturday, Dec. 11.
CBU will look to improve on the home win streak that was just pushed to 17-straight off the 63-57 win against Pepperdine last Thursday. The Lancers have successfully defended home court at every opportunity since downing Seattle U 90-79 on Feb. 29, 2020.
CBU improved to 5-1 on the season after the win over Pepperdine, a victory that saw big contributions from Ane Olaeta and Caitlyn Harper, as well as clutch bench play from Dorcas Wu. The Lancer defense stood firm at the arc as the Waves shot just 16.7 percent (3-18) from three during the game.

The Aztecs currently sit at 4-4 this season after dropping their last three in a row to Ole Miss, Furman and the University of San Diego. SDSU will be looking for payback after losing last year's exciting meeting against CBU, 75-71.
Both teams return their respective top scorers from the last bout, as Britney Thomas went for 26 points on 12-14 shooting last year and Sophia Ramos matched Thomas' total, but needed 23 shots to do so.
Ramos is the gas that makes the Aztec engine run, leading the team in scoring (14.9), field goals made (44), three-pointers made (18), rebounds per game (5.3) and steals per game (2.0). Ramos, Mercedes Staples, Asia Avinger and Mallory Adams have been the core four for the Aztecs, starting all eight games and averaging nearly 60 percent of all minutes played so far this season.

The Lancers and Lumberjacks have split two previous matchups, with each team taking the win on their home court. The last meeting happened in November of 2019 with the Lancers cruising to a 98-79 victory.
Six Lancers scored in double-figures, including three players still on the roster in Georgia Dale (16), Harper (11) and Olaeta (10). For NAU, Nina Radford paced the Lumberjacks that afternoon with 27 points and the redshirt junior will surely be looking for payback in the rubber match. Fifth-year Lumberjack Khiarica Rasheed is NAU's leading scorer so far this season, currently averaging 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Northern Arizona is 3-3 on the year with a game against Grand Canyon slated for the Thursday prior to their contest with CBU. Of the Lumberjacks' three loses, two came at the hands on Pac-12 foes Washington St. (62-53) and Washington (72-65) to begin the season.
