CBU Records Three Double-Doubles in Thriller Against San Diego State
12/8/2021 9:02:00 PM | Women's Basketball
RIVERSIDE – Caitlyn Harper, Ane Olaeta and Georgia Dale all came away with a double-double to their credit for California Baptist University, but it was San Diego State that would take home the narrow 78-77 victory. The Lancers now hold a 5-2 record on the season while the Aztecs move to 5-4.
Harper earned her third double-double of the season with 22 points to go with 13 rebounds, while Olaeta dropped a sneaky 18 points to go with 11 dimes. Dale joined the action with 10 points and 10 boards, while Brittany Klaman (13) and Britney Thomas (10) made it a total of five Lancers to reached double-figures scoring on the night.
Dale opened the game with a three-point bucket that earned her a spot in the prestigious 1,000-point club. She becomes the third Lancer in program history to make it in during the Division I era, joining Lexy Ram (1,356) and Ane Olaeta (1,423).
The Lancers would build a nine-point lead by the end of the first quarter thanks in part to Klaman's Top 10 worthy half-court buzzer beater. The two teams would keep the game close for the majority of the 40 minutes, closing out the first half tied at 45.
The third quarter ended with the Lancers clinging to a three-point lead, but five Aztec steals in the fourth quarter led them to the upset win in Riverside.
