KIRKLAND – California Baptist University volleyball's final two Western Athletic Conference matches at Seattle U set for Monday and Tuesday have been canceled by the Redhawks in response to the program's COVID-19 protocols and safety measures. The Lancers will now play non-conference matches at Northwest University on Monday night at 7 p.m. and at Saint Martin's on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
This marks the second WAC series to be canceled for the Lancers this season after their home series with Chicago State originally scheduled for Feb. 8-9 in Riverside was postponed and not rescheduled. CBU will still look to close out the season with two more wins. The Lancers are coming off a sweep of La Sierra on Thursday (25-20, 25-11, 25-15), as they dropped a season-high 12 aces and hit .360.
Northwest is a member of the NAIA and Cascade Collegiate Conference. The Eagles are 0-3 this season, with all three of their matches coming against Seattle Pacific and all three ending in sweeps for SPU.
Saint Martin's is a member of NCAA Division II and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Saints are 1-2 on the year, with a win over Seattle Pacific but are coming off back-to-back losses to SPU and Alaska Anchorage.
This will be the second match between CBU and NU, with the first coming in 2009. The Lancers got the 3-0 win (25-11, 25-18, 25-21) at the Asics/Crowne Plaza Labor Day Tournament hosted by Concordia in Irvine on Sept. 4, 2009.
It will be the fourth meeting between the Lancers and Saints. CBU has won all three of the previous matches, with the first meeting coming in 1995 and the two others in 2013.

It's no secret Calissa Hoye is a focal point of CBU's offense. The senior transfer from the University of Iowa leads the Lancers in kills with 155 overall and 3.52 a set. It gives her 48 more kills than the next teammate. She has now reached double-digit kills eight times and has two 20-kill performances on the year. Hoye is a full-rotation player for the Lancers and has five double-doubles so far this season, with 93 digs (2.11 a set).
STRONG IN THE MIDDLE
Ellie Voss is putting together a strong run of play for the Lancers. The middle blocker has at least six kills and three blocks in four of the last six matches. The junior posted at least six kills and five blocks in both matches at UTRGV, had eight kills in both matches against Grand Canyon and seven more kills on La Sierra on Thursday. On the year, Voss has 85 kills (1.73 a set) on a team-high .293 hitting percentage (85-25-205). She also leads CBU with 35 blocks (0.71), with eight solo stuffs.
