Lancers Claim First Victory of the Season with a Sweep of Chattanooga

ATLANTA – California Baptist University volleyball swept its way to its first win of the season over Chattanooga on Saturday at the Georgia State Invitational.
The Lancers claimed their first victory of the season in straight sets (25-18, 25-23, 25-18), thanks to a very efficient match offensively. CBU hit .322 as a team (51-12-121) and sided out on a 63.9 percentage as it begins the season with a 1-2 record, along with Chattanooga.
Hana Okuhara recorded her first double-double on the year with 17 assists and 10 digs. Four Lancers logged eight of more kills on Saturday, with Scherine Dahoue's 12 kills on a .345 percentage leading the way. She also had nine digs, a block and an ace.
Christine Graf and Tesa Oaks each had 11 kills, while Anouk van Noord dropped eight kills on a .583 clip (8-1-12). Cassidy Dennison's 12 digs were a team-high, while Leah Pease's 19 assists and two aces were a team best. Chandler Gorman had a big match in the middle with four blocks (three solo) and five kills.
Graf was named to the Georgia State Invitational All-Tournament Team after she had 27 kills (3.00 a set) on a .317 hitting percentage on the week.
CBU is back in action on the road next week at the South Dakota State Tournament. The Lancers will face Wichita State and host South Dakota State on Friday, Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, and end the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 9 a.m.
