Lancers Battle Tarleton in Texas

Stephenville, Texas - The California Baptist University volleyball team fell on the road, 3-1, to Tarleton in a Western Athletic Conference match-up on Saturday afternoon.
Tarleton won the opening set, 25-22, that was even at 21-21 before the Texans closed it out on a 4-1 run. CBU bounced back though, jumping out to an 11-5 advantage and eventually taking the second set 25-20. However, Tarleton clinched the match taking the third (25-14) and fourth (25-18) sets in decisive fashion.
Leah Pease registered a game-high 45 assists, nine digs and two aces for the Lancers. Christine Graf had 16 kills and four blocks while Laura Walewska added eight kills and five blocks. Michalina Rola had a game-high 17 kills. Brianna Young had a team-high 14 digs with a pair of assists, and Paige Johnstone had 12 digs and four assists.
CBU's record drops to 8-10 overall and 3-4 in WAC play. The Lancers are now 2-5 on the road this season. Tarleton improves to 11-12 on the year and 3-5 in league competition.
The Lancers return to Riverside for three straight conference home matches, starting with NM State in Van Dyne Gym on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. CBU is 4-1 in home matches this season.
