Lancers Finish Red Rocks Invitational In Fourth

SEDONA --- California Baptist University's women's golf team closed out the final round of the Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday, as the Lancers finished in fourth out of 19 teams.
After darkness suspended Monday's second round, the 19-team field got off to an earlier start to finish the 54-hole event. California Baptist finished the two-day tournament with a 19-over-par 293-291-299=883 to capture the top four spot. It marks the Lancers' sixth tournament on the season they have finished inside the top four and 13th out of the last 15 tournaments the Lancers have finished fourth or better.
Grand Canyon held on to win the tournament with a 1-over-par 865 team score, while Northern Arizona finished second with a 7-over-par 871 team score. Weber State narrowly edged the Lancers for third with a 13-over-par 877 team score.
Jocelyn Chee led the Lancers for the second straight tournament, capturing her sixth top-five finish on the season at T-5th out of 104 golfers. Chee signed a 1-under-par 70-69-76=215 to claim a top-five spot, and the 3-under-par 69 marks the second straight tournament Chee has turned in a round in the 60's.
Sofia Chabon moved up 23 spots to finish T-13th with a 3-over-par 78-71-70=219, while Hailey Loh made the largest leap up the leaderboard up 31 spots to finish T-37th with a 12-over-par 74-80-74=228. Haruka Shintani and Filipa Capelo both finished T-42nd with a 7-over-par 229 total.
Eliska Kocourkova of Northern Arizona claimed the medalist honors on her home course with a 5-under-par 68-73-70=211.
The Lancers will play in one final tournament before the Western Athletic Conference Championships as they head to Maricopa, Arizona, on April 4-5 at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.
