
Lancers Sweep Both Team Titles at Anteater Opener

The Lancers' women dominated and saw Emilia Mikszuta win the individual 4,000-meter championship, while the men packed tightly in the top 10 of the 6K – led by Luis Chavez in the runner-up position.

CBU's women posted 24 points to cruise to a win, with UC Irvine finishing runner-up (58) in front of Long Beach State (75), San Diego State (83) and CSUN (155). The men held off the host Anteaters with a score of 27, as UCI placed second with 33 points. Long Beach State (65) and CSUN (115) completed the four-team standings.
Seven Lancers finished in the top 12 for the women, with their scoring five all finishing in the top eight. It was a race between three for the individual crown down the stretch, with Mikszuta crossing first in 13 minutes, 59.2 seconds just in front of teammate and true freshman Maja Dzialoszewska taking second right behind her in 13:59.8.
A trio of CBU runners: Marina Trave (14:12.1), Cynthia Martin (14:13.7) and Maelle Porcher (14:15.8) finished sixth through eighth to lock up the team title. The Lancers showcased their depth even further, with Anna Lawrukajtis (10th, 14:24.8); Mia Cabrera (12th, 14:26); Paige Haynes (15th, 14:43.6); Emilie Renaud (20th, 14:54.7) and Karin Gosek (23rd, 15:07.2) all finishing in the top 25.

Chavez put together an impressive season debut to take second in 18:28.5, just behind UCI's Lukas Amare (18:26). CBU's Dylan Van Der Hock (18:31.5), Zlatko Kozuhar (18:38.6) and Massimiliano Berti (18:40.6) swept fourth through sixth place, while Roman Zozulia secured the team victory with a 10th place finish (19:15.1) just in front of the Anteater's fifth runner in 12th place (19:18.2).

True freshman Sean Lacey took 15th in his collegiate debut (19:26.5) and Tyler Tickner placed 17th (19:28.1) to add to the impressive day.
California Baptist will take next week off from competition and return to action at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17. The women will run first a t7:15 a.m. and the men will head out at 7:50 a.m.
