
The Lancers Finish an Incredible Weekend at the Highlander Invitational

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University cross country team competed in the Highlander Invitational and earned four top-10 individual finishes, placing both teams in the top 10.
Twenty-six collegiate teams were represented in the meet, including many local teams such as host UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton, and Long Beach State.
The men's 8K was the first race of the morning, with five Lancers running in the race. The runners were Joaquin Campos, Roman Zozulia, Tyler Tickner, David Ninavia, and Evan McReynolds. Campos paced the group and brought home a second-place finish in his second collegiate race at 23:44.3. Zozulia and Tickner were not far behind Campos with seventh and eighth-place finishes to earn CBU three runners in the top 10. Ninavia earned a slot in the top 50 at 42nd place, clocking in at 24:45.7.

The men finished seventh as a team behind UC San Diego and Long Beach State with 220 points.
The women's 6K race was the final of the meet for CBU, with five women donning the blue and gold for the Lancers. The team's first 2K was effervescent, with Abir Reffas, Lamiae Mamouni, Mia Cabrera, and Gabrield Tardivo jumping out into the top 11. Reffas, in her first collegiate race, earned a fifth-place finish at 20:35.1 and was the women's top finisher in the meet.

Behind Reffas were Tardivo, Haynes, and Cabera, who all finished in the top 40, led by Tardivo in 22nd. The women would finish sixth in the field, dropping just a few points behind San Diego State and Arizona State.
The Highlander Invite ended a glorious weekend for the Lancers after CBU competed on Friday at the prestigious Nuttycombe Invitational and earned top 10 finishes on both the men's and women's sides, with the men placing fourth and the women eighth.
The Lancers will have two weeks of preparation before jetting off to Abilene to compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Friday, October 27th.
