RIVERSIDE - On the heels of a pair of 20-point home wins, California Baptist University women's basketball returns to the road this week for a single match against the Redhawks of Seattle U. The Lancers will arrive in the Emerald City as winners of seven of their last eight games and a record of 16-2 (8-1 WAC) overall, just half a game behind Grand Canyon for the top spot in the standings. SU begins the week with a 1-17 (1-8 WAC) record, with a tilt in Phoenix against the Lopes on Thursday.
This past weekend, the Lancers achieved a new milestone as Chloe Webb, Khloe Lemon, and Filipa Barros became the first CBU trio to top 20 points in the same game. Barros played at a high level all week, averaging 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in two games, earning her first WAC Player of the Week award.
SEATTLE AT A GLANCE
The Redhawks have struggled in the win/loss column for a few seasons now, with 2017-18 being their most recent winning season at 18-15. This year's lone win came against Utah Valley on November 29, 58-48. In that game, SU held the Wolverines to season lows in points (48), field goals made (18), and field goal percentage (30.0%).
Despite their record, the Redhawks showed great potential recently, taking Grand Canyon into double overtime in Phoenix on January 20. Even with that effort, the Redhawks dropped that contest by 11 points and average a season scoring margin of -15.3, which ranks 335th out of 348 teams in Division I.
The Lancers will put their eight-game win streak against Seattle U on the line on Saturday, February 3, at 1:00 p.m.
