RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University volleyball team will prep for a home and away week, with matches against Tarleton and Utah Valley on the schedule.
The Lancers will return home after a four-game road trip to begin the week as they take on the Tarleton Texans on Thursday evening at 5 PM PT. The Texans are still in search of their first conference game after an 0-6 start to their Western Athletic Conference schedule. The Texans pushed Utah Valley and Abilene Christian to five sets in their previous couple of matchups after dropping matches to UT Arlington, Seattle U, Southern Utah, and Utah Tech. CBU holds a 4-2 edge over Tarleton in the all-time series, and this will be the second all-time meeting in Riverside. The Texans and the Lancers split the season series last year, with each team winning on its home turf.
The final match of the week will be a Saturday afternoon tilt in Orem, Utah, to take on the Utah Valley Wolverines. CBU bested the Wolverines in the first meeting in Riverside, sweeping the Wolverines in the Dale E. & Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center. CBU set an NCAA-era program record with 21 aces in the match, and that number still stands as the most aces in a single match in the NCAA this season in a three-set match. UVU is 3-3 in the WAC schedule and is on a two-game winning streak, besting Seattle U and Tarleton in consecutive matches last week. CBU has won three straight against the Wolverines dating back to 2022 and will look to extend the streak to four and sweep the season series.
