CBU Falls In Edinburg to UTRGV

EDINBURG, TEXAS - California Baptist men's soccer dropped their final road game of the regular season today as the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley kept their postseason hopes alive with a 2-0 victory. CBU falls to 3-3-1 in conference play with two games still to play.
"This was an extremely difficult setting, and we came up against a team playing for their season today. We know we can be better, and we will," noted Head Coach Coe Michaelson after the match. He added, "We would have liked to take more, but 3 points from this road trip is something we can live with heading back to Riverside for our final homestand."
The Vaqueros were the aggressor through most of the match, pushing the action and outshooting CBU 16-3. The hosts scored first in the 22nd minute and tacked on a late insurance score in the 87th to secure their second Western Athletic Conference win of the season.
The Lancers will finish out the regular season and look to clinch their WAC Tournament spot with two final games at home. CBU will host Air Force on Thursday, October 31st, and wrap up the regular season with senior night on November 3rd against Utah Valley.
