LIBERTYVILLE, IL--- The California Baptist women's golf team headed to Illinois this week to participate in the Loyola Parkinson Invitational hosted by Loyola University Chicago. The Lancers finished third of 13 programs, and Samantha Dizon had the best finish of the day for CBU after carding a ninth-place finish.
Damini Law Ghanshyani opened the first round of the tournament with a score of 72 to pace the Lancers, while Dizon shot 2-over par to start her event score. Pusanisa Ekkantrong kicked off the second round with a 71, while Dizon shot a 76 to maintain her top-10 standing on a difficult course. After the third round, the Lancers would all place in the top 30 individually, with Dizon leading the way in ninth. Ghanshyani finished in 24th, Ekkantrong claimed 28th, while Lisa Shimmon ended the tournament in 20th, tied with Burberry Zhang.
Finishing in third place as a team was the squad's second top-three finish and third top-10 finish this season. It was also Dizon's second top-10 finish individually during the fall season. The Lancers will now turn their attention to the Little Rock Golf Classic in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to close out the first half of the season, participating in the final fall tournament from October 20th through the 22nd.
