CBU Finishes 86th overall, 2nd Among WAC Schools in Final LEARFIELD Standings

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) finalized the official standings of the 2023-24 LEARFIELD Directors Cup Rankings, with California Baptist earning its best ranking of the DI era to date.
The Lancers finished 86th overall, were 5th among non-football institutions, and were 2nd in the Western Athletic Conference, following an impressive year that saw four conference championships and nine teams reach the NCAA postseason. CBU scored 249 total points, topping its 2022-23 total by a whopping 152 points. The Lancers secured its final set of points inthe Spring via Greta Karinauskaite of the women's track and field team, who was a First-Team All-American at the 2024 Outdoor Track and Field National Championships with a fourth-place finish in the women's steeplechase.
The Lancers also received points from men's soccer, women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, and wrestling, reaching the national stage in their respective sports during the athletic year. Cross-country garnered 108.5 points for its men's and women's teams, finishing 16th and 17th, respectively, at Nationals. Men's Soccer scored the most points for CBU for reaching the National Tournament for the second season in a row and earning its first-ever victory by defeating the University of San Diego in penalty kicks to make it to the second round.
"This is a result of our outstanding coaches and staff working very hard to develop our amazing student-athletes. To finish in the top 23% of Division I schools is an outstanding achievement in only our second year of postseason eligibility," reflected Vice President for Athletics Dr. Micah Parker.
The University of Texas secured its third overall Learfield Directors' Cup on June 11 and finished 2023-24 with 1377.00 total points after the College World Series. Texas claimed two national titles – women's volleyball and women's rowing – while also tallying three runner-up finishes (women's swimming and diving, softball, and men's tennis). Stanford finished runner-up with 1,312.75 points and has captured a pair of national championships – men's gymnastics and women's golf.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. The 2023-24 Division I LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings will begin after the fall sports season is complete.
