RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University volleyball team will hit the road this week to the Lone Star State for a pair of conference matches against UT Arlington and Tarleton State.
The Lancers enter this week in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Western Athletic Conference standings at 2-4 alongside UT Arlington and Abilene Christian, both of which the Lancers have beaten. The road trip will be a critical one as CBU looks to climb the standings in the back half of the conference calendar.
The road trip will begin at Arlington as they face the Mavericks at the College Park Center. The Lancers bested the Mavericks in the first matchup this season in a five-set thriller in Riverside just over a week ago. The win was the first over the Mavericks since 2022 and the first time in program history they did so in Van Dyne Gym. UTA is tied with CBU in the standings at 2-4 and is coming off an upset win over previously unbeaten Utah Tech at home last Saturday.
In part two of the road trip, the Lancers will head down to Stephenville, Texas, to take on the Tarleton Texans on Saturday, October 25. The Texans are in sole possession of third-place in the WAC at 4-2 and are winners of three of their last four matches. Tarleton bested CBU in the conference opener in late September in four sets in the Fowler Events Center and will look for the series sweep on Saturday. CBU still holds the series history edge in this matchup at 5-4 and won the last matchup in Stephenville in 2024.
