
#12 CBU Falls to #8 Pacific on Sunday

STOCKTON, CA--- On Sunday afternoon, the #12 California Baptist men's water polo program fell to #8 University of the Pacific 14-11 in a competitive match as West Coast Conference play continues. The Lancers drop to 3-2 in conference play and are now 21-9 this season.
Pacific opened strong, scoring five goals in the first period. CBU found the back of the net twice, but struggled to keep pace with UoP. The second period saw both teams exchanging goals, but Pacific maintained control. California Baptist responded with goals from Collin White and Rafa Martinez, yet Pacific's consistent scoring kept them ahead at halftime with a score of 8-4.
In the third frame, California Baptist mounted a comeback, outscoring Pacific 3-4, but they couldn't fully close the gap. The final quarter featured a flurry of activity, with the Lancers attempting to narrow the deficit. CBU scored four times in the final eight minutes, including a standout performance by Martinez, who netted four goals during the game. Pacific's strong defense, anchored by the Tigers' keeper's impressive 11 saves to secure their victory, leaving the final score at 14-11.
CBU will welcome San Jose State on Saturday for the final WCC match of the season at the CBU Aquatic Center at 12 p.m.
