No. 9 BYU Tops CBU Inside the Delta Center

SALT LAKE CITY, UT --- California Baptist's road trip took a big step on Wednesday, as the Lancers battled the ninth-ranked team in the nation, BYU, inside the Delta Center. Playing in an NBA arena, CBU faced its toughest opponent of the season, as the night ended in a 91-60 finish in favor of BYU.
The Lancers are now 7-2, while the Cougars picked up their fourth win in a row to improve to 7-1.
Martel Williams led the Lancers in scoring with 12 points on 5-of-15 from the field. Williams also led the Lancers with five boards.
Jordan Muller wrapped up his fourth collegiate start with nine points, all on three-point attempts. Dominique Daniels Jr. scored eight points to pair with four rebounds. The game also saw the collegiate debut of Rene D'Amelio, who finished with three points, all from the charity stripe, in his debut.
BYU was led by the combo of AJ Dybantsa and Keba Keita, as both scored 22 points on 10-for-15 from the field. Keita also led the game in rebounds with 14. Robert Wright III paired 15 points with a game-leading 11 assists.
The Lancers held their own in the early going, sitting within four with 12 minutes remaining in the opening half. BYU eventually found its rhythm to take a 42-26 lead into halftime. The Cougars picked up their offense in the second half, scoring 49 points to CBU's 34.
BYU ended the game shooting 55 percent from the field. The Lancers shot 33 percent. BYU also won the rebound battle, 41-29.
The Lancers will remain in Salt Lake City through the end of the week, as they are scheduled to take on Utah on Saturday evening. CBU will return to Southern California after the game, where they will practice for a week before hitting the road again on December 13 against Eastern Washington.
Saturday's matchup with the Utes is scheduled for 4 p.m. (PST) and will be aired on ESPN+.
