RIVERSIDE--- California Baptist University announced the men's soccer program's official 2025 schedule on Wednesday afternoon, noting 16 total matches for the squad's final season competing in the Western Athletic Conference.
Opening night for the Lancers will be against American University at CBU Soccer Stadium on August 21st before Coe Michaelson's team hits the road for the first time and faces Cal State Bakersfield the following Monday. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo will make its way down south to compete against the Lancers at home on September 4th, and after, CBU will return to the University of San Diego for the first time since besting the Toreros in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2023. September 8th will see California Baptist welcome Cal State Fullerton to Riverside before the Blue and Gold head across the country for a pair of away games. The Lancers will take on West Virginia University in Morgantown before road-tripping to Oklahoma to face the University of Tulsa.
Upon their arrival home, California Baptist will welcome its soon-to-be Big West foe UC Irvine for the final nonconference home match of the season before heading a few streets over to UC Riverside for the infamous Crosstown Showdown to complete their nonconference slate. WAC play will open in Northern California for the Lancers as they begin their last chance for a regular season title against San Jose State, who fell one game short of an NCAA Tournament trip after falling to Seattle U in the WAC Tournament Championship match. CBU will then welcome both UNLV and Grand Canyon University for a pair of home matches before hitting the road to take on Utah Valley and the Air Force Academy. Michaelson's squad will round out the final two regular-season matches in California, battling Utah Tech at CBU Soccer Stadium and taking on San Diego State University at SDSU Sports Deck. California Baptist will play host this season for their final appearance at the WAC Tournament and have been successful in the past when hosting, winning the 2022 tournament on their home field.
In total, the Lancers will host seven matches at home this season while competing in nine away fixtures. Additionally, CBU will compete against two top-25 2024-ranked squads, including USD which made it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament last season.
