BOZEMAN, MO--- Samantha Dizon picked up right where she left off last season as the California Baptist women's golf program opened its fall slate at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate hosted by Montana State. CBU finished strong for its first event of the year, posting a fourth-place finish of 11 programs, while Dizon carded a second-place finish for her fourth top-three finish of her collegiate career.
The Lancers played consistently through the first tournament of the season, staying in the top five of the teams in Montana. Dizon led the way through the first 18 holes with a 69 to start strong. Lisa Shimmon was the closest Lancer behind the senior, as she finished the first round 2-over par. The second round saw Pusanisa Ekkantrong go low after the junior posted a 71 to lead the Lancers, while Dizon finished even with par.
The final round of the tournament once again favored Dizon as she finished 1-under, totaling 10 birdies in Montana. Ekkantrong ended her first tournament of the season in 20th, while Shuyi Cao made her freshman debut with a 29th-place finish. Shimmon and Burberry Zhang tied for 35th to round out the Lancer placements.
California Baptist will now shift its focus to the Red Raider Invitational hosted by Texas Tech, set for September 23rd through the 24th.
