LUBBOCK, TEXAS--- The California Baptist women's golf program finished its second event of the 2025 fall season on Wednesday afternoon after competing in the two-day Red Raider Invitational tournament. CBU secured a sixth-place team finish of 15 programs, as Shuyi Cao paced the team with a 19th-place finish across the Rawls Course at Texas Tech.
Marc Machado's freshmen showed out during the first round of the event, as both Cao and Kornchanok Triyakul posted the lowest scores of the first 18 holes for CBU at 77. Round two saw Pusanisa Ekkantrong and Lisa Shimmon find their rhythm on the tricky greens as both secured a 2-over par for their second set of 18 holes before Cao finished with CBU's best score at 74 during the final round of the week.
Cao finished tied for 19th while Ekkantrong ended in 23rd, and Sam Dizon carded a 39th-place finish. Triyakul and Shimmon both tied for 49th. Cao finished the tournament with eight birdies, tying for the 10th most in the tournament, and Sam Dizon secured 38 pars for the fifth most in the field. CBU's team score for the final round was the second-lowest of the season and the tournament, falling short of the tournament winners and host Texas Tech.
The Lancers will now turn their attention to the beginning of October, where they'll compete in the Sunflower Invitational hosted by the University of Kansas.
