MALIBU, Calif. – CBU swimming opened its season at the Rodionoff Invitational with five top-three finishes on day one, highlighted by freshman Faith Fasani's first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Lancers kicked off their first meet of the season against several California programs, including Westmont, Utah Tech and San Diego, turning in a strong opening-day performance.
Fasani paced CBU in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 51.30 to claim the event title. Her time narrowly missed the program's all-time top 10, marking an impressive start to her collegiate career.
CBU also made its presence felt in the 200-yard butterfly, securing three of the top four finishes. Junior Angelica Benitez and senior Camille Cottier tied for second with times of 2:08, while junior Avery Easterling followed in fourth at 2:09.
The Lancers added another podium finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where Fasani, freshman Emilie Bawono, senior Ambrin Pienaar and sophomore Anna Hassell combined for a third-place time of 1:37.50.
Benitez continued her strong day in the 200-yard individual medley, earning second place with a time of 2:08.21. CBU also recorded several additional top-10 finishes across the meet as the team began its first season in the Pac-12 Conference.
The Lancers will look to build on their opening-day success when they return for day two of the Rodionoff Invitational. Diving begins at 10 a.m., followed by swimming events at 11 a.m.
