2/2/2026 12:00:00 PM | Men's Basketball
RIVERSIDE --- Guard Dominique Daniels Jr. has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week for the second week in a row. Daniels Jr. dropped 28 points in CBU's overtime win against UT Arlington, moving the Lancers into a three-way tie for first place.
The Lancers are one of three teams tied at 6-3 in conference play, along with UT Arlington and Utah Valley.
CBU played once last week, a road game in Arlington that saw the Lancers need overtime to pull away with a win for the second game in a row. The Lancers beat Utah Valley in overtime last week in Riverside and then returned to action with an overtime win against UT Arlington on Saturday.
Daniels Jr. led the offensive attack with 28 points in Arlington. The 28-point showing came one game after the graduate guard dropped a CBU record 47 points against Utah Valley. In the UVU win, ten of Daniels Jr.'s points came in overtime. He added to that on Saturday with 13 points in the extra period.
Over his last three games, Daniels Jr. is averaging 33.7 PPG. His 24.2 PPG in conference play is second in the WAC behind Tarleton State's Dior Johnson, who is scoring 24.6 PPG.
Daniels Jr. is averaging 22.2 PPG through 21 games this season, the eighth-highest scoring average in Division I. He is only 1.5 PPG behind the nation's scoring leader, Northwestern's Nick Martinelli. For his career, Daniels Jr. sits 108 points away from 3,000 for his career (Division I and Junior College).
Monday's recognition is the eighth of Daniels Jr.'s Division I career. He has been named the WAC Player of the Week three times this season.
The Lancers will play twice this week, both at home, as they look to extend their home win streak, which sits at 14 games (dating back to last season). CBU is 10-0 inside the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center and will play five more times at home this season.
First will be a visit from Tarleton State on Thursday for a 7 p.m. start. CBU lost in overtime in their earlier meeting with Tarleton State in Texas. The week then continues with Abilene Christian visiting Riverside on Saturday at 5 p.m. CBU beat ACU in Texas earlier this season.
Tickets for all remaining home games are on sale HERE.
