NASHVILLE, TN --- For the sixth consecutive year, the Lancers are bound for the College STUNT National Championship Game. Thanks to wins over Missouri State and Kentucky, CBU is alive in the winner's bracket, setting up an appearance in Sunday's championship contest.
With their two wins on Saturday, CBU STUNT is now 139-0 all-time. The Lancers now own the longest registered win streak in college sports history, eclipsing the 137 game win streak set by the Miami (FL) men's tennis program.
To get the record eclipsing victory, the Lancers had to first square off with Missouri State. This was the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs, and the second of the season. CBU defeated Missouri State back on March 21, also in Nashville.
This time around it was a 17-3 win for the Lancers. Missouri State's three points were the first three ever scored on CBU in their matchup history.
That win advanced the Lancers to the semifinals where they squared off with last season's runner-up, Kentucky. The Lancers and Wildcats have met four times in Nashville, which accounts for one-third of the 12 games in this rivalry.
CBU did what they have done in the 11 previous meetings with the Wildcats, as they won, this time by a final of 27-17. The win moved CBU to the championship game while it knocked Kentucky to an elimination game tomorrow.
Kentucky will meet up with Cal Poly to start the day on Sunday, with the winner moving to the championship game against the Lancers. The championship game will be a single-elimination winner-take-all contest.
Sunday's final game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (PST)
