SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA --- California Baptist, the six-time defending national champions of collegiate STUNT, has been announced as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). The landmark announcement ensures a conference standing for CBU in the 2027 season, which will be a historic campaign for the sport.
The 2027 STUNT season will be the first to see the sport be competed as an NCAA championship sport. That announcement was made at the 2026 NCAA Convention after a vote of approval from NCAA member institutions.
With the addition of STUNT, the MPSF now sponsors 17 Intercollegiate Olympic sports, which is the most ever offered by the conference. STUNT is the eighth sport to be added to the MPSF under commissioner Foti Mellis, who has been in that position since the fall of 2021. The MPSF STUNT conference will feature four teams, as CBU is joined by Cal Poly, UC Davis, and the University of the Pacific.
The 17 intercollegiate sports lined up in the MPSF for 2026-27, in addition to STUNT, are beach volleyball, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's indoor track & field, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's wrestling, men's rowing, fencing, field hockey, and artistic swimming.
"We are excited to give our amazing STUNT program another championship opportunity," said CBU Vice President of Athletics, Dr. Micah Parker. "It's nice to be on the ground floor of building a conference that we hope will grow larger as athletic programs see the benefit of this sport."
The excitement was shared by coach Brandon Seagondollar, who has guided the Lancers to a record of 140-0 across six seasons.
"The MPSF has a long history of supporting emerging sports and providing championship opportunities for student-athletes, making it the perfect home for the continued growth of STUNT," said Seagondollar. "As a program, we are excited to compete alongside some of the nation's top institutions and help shape the future of our sport. This conference represents another significant step forward for STUNT, and we are grateful to be part of a trailblazing group that is creating new opportunities for current and future student-athletes. We look forward to building rivalries, competing for championships, and continuing to elevate STUNT at the collegiate level."
CBU joins the MPSF as the most successful program in collegiate STUNT history. Following their sixth consecutive STUNT national championship to close out the 2026 season, the Lancers boast a record of 140-0. CBU's historic win streak is the longest in college sports history, a milestone they reached with win number 138 in the quarterfinals of the 2026 STUNT National Championship in Nashville, TN.
