Sunday Victory Extends CBU’s Win Streak to Six
10/4/2026 6:09:00 PM | Men's Soccer
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA --- The longest road trip of the 2026 regular season reached its conclusion on Sunday, with the Lancers visiting Cal Poly for the second match of the Pac-12 season. Following the Lancers' best offensive performance of the season on Wednesday, CBU continued its momentum as they leave San Luis Obispo with a 3-1 finish.
California Baptist improves its overall mark to 8-2-0, while the Lancers remain at the top of the Pac-12 table with a 2-0-0 showing. Sunday's win also extends CBU's win streak to six, continuing the longest win streak of the Lancers' Division I era.
During this win streak, CBU is outscoring opponents 13-3.
"This is a very difficult place to play, so we are very pleased to walk away with three points," said head coach Coe Michaelson. "And to do it short-handed, and on the back of a road trip to Spokane, makes it even more impressive."
Senior Stavros Charalampous contributed to two of the Lancers' three goals, including the first goal of the day, which came in the 29th minute. Charalampous played a ball 40 yards down the field, over the Mustangs' defense, setting up Felix Ezekwuka for a one-on-one look on goal. Ezekwuka beat Cal Poly's goalkeeper, Mathew Guerra, for his first goal of the season.
Charalampous was back on the attack in the 59th minute when he doubled the Lancers' lead. Starting with a cross from Uly Martinez, Drew Hardin was able to head the ball to Charalampous, who scored on his first touch.
The goal was Charalampous' first of the season. Hardin recorded his team-leading fourth assist, while Martinez was credited with an assist for the second match in a row.
CBU's third and final goal of the day, registering in the 84th minute, was originally credited as an own goal. Freshman Justin Ojo fired a shot on frame that ricocheted off a Mustang defender inside the far post. After review, Ojo has been credited with his fifth goal of the season, while Blake D'Agostino earns his third assist. Ojo netted four goals this week, as he racked up a hat trick in Wednesday's win vs. Gonzaga.
Goalkeeper Ulrik Stroem made his eighth start of the season and finished with three saves. The only goal conceded against Stroem came in the 85th minute.
Sunday was just the third meeting all-time between the Lancers and Mustangs. The Lancers are now 2-1-0 against their new conference rivals, with wins coming in consecutive meetings.
The Lancers will return to action on Wednesday as CBU opens a two-match homestand against Oregon State. The Beavers are currently ranked No. 21 in the United Soccer Coaches' Poll, but new rankings will be released on Tuesday.
Following the visit from the Beavers, CBU will welcome UC Riverside to the CBU Soccer Stadium on Saturday for the 2026 installment of the Crosstown Showdown.
"We have a very difficult week ahead with a rest disadvantage against Oregon State and UCR," added Michaelson. "So we are focused on getting recovered and ready, because there is no respite coming anytime soon."
Wednesday's match will air nationally on ESPNU. Tickets for all remaining home dates are on sale HERE.
