THIS YEAR: Sophomore Kris Corso made dramatic improvements in the off-season and will work as the backup point guard to Omar Krayem ... Added strength to his frame ... Will see quality minutes ... Is smart about the game and is noted for his quickness in picking up offenses and defenses ... Has a high court awareness and solid floor leadership ... Is a prototypical point guard.
2008: Appeared in 17 games, all in reserve, as a 2008 freshman ... Averaged 5.6 minutes, scoring 13 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists ... Played a season-high 13 minutes, grabbing two rebounds and dishing out an assist against Azusa Pacific in the GSAC Tournament Semifinals ... Also played a season-high 13 minutes, grabbing two rebounds, an assist and a steal in the season-opening win over Holy Names ... Scored a career-high five points in six minutes in a win over Hope International.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped three varsity seasons for head coach Dave Cassaw at La Costa Canyon High in Carlsbad, Calif., graduating in 2007 ... Was a two-time All-Palomar League selection ... Named All-North County and participated in the San Diego Boys’ Senior All-Star game, scoring 15 points as a 2007 senior ... Averaged 18 points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds as a 2007 senior ... Was the tenth leading scorer in San Diego County and was third with 79 three-pointers made ... Named Above the Rim Classic All-Tournament and was MVP of the Newport Harbor Tournament ... Led the Mavericks to a pair of league titles and a CIF Division I City Championship as a 2006 junior ... Played his 2004 freshman season at Santa Fe Christian High, leading his team to a league and CIF Division V City Championship.
OTHER: Born Aug. 16, 1988, in La Jolla, Calif., to Mike and Diana Corso ... Has one brother (Nick) and one sister (Kainla) ... Older brother, Nick, played at Point Loma Nazarene and was the all-time leading high school scorer in San Diego County before being passed by Chase Budinger, who now stars at the University of Arizona ... Majoring in Christian behavioral sciences and would like to be a counselor after graduation ... Enjoys chess and ping pong.
