LANCERS GIVE THANKS WITH 100-45 BLOWOUT OF LA SIERRA
RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Evan Timperley scored a game-high 26 points to lead California Baptist to a 100-45 non-conference win over La Sierra Wednesday night in the Van Dyne Gym.
The win is the Lancers’ second straight as they improve to 2-1 on the season. The Golden Eagles, who played their fourth game in as many nights, drop to 1-3.
Timperley, who didn’t score in the Lancers’ first 2 games of the year, scored 23 in the second half alone and was 6-for-9 from beyond the arc, hitting 5 of those in the final 20 minutes. He was 10-for-14 from the floor.
All 10 Lancers that played scored, and 7 of them scored in the game-opening 17-6 spurt in the first 6:47 of the game. Terrell Hendricks, who led La Sierra with 20 points, hit a jumper to make it 24-16. At that point, though, the Lancers blew the game open with another 17-6 run, capped by a trey by Junior Denson, to take a 41-22 lead with 1:55 left in the half.
They never led by less than 16 points the rest of the way and scored 24 of the first 30 points, capped by a Timperley trey, in the second half to open a 71-33 lead with 9:52 left.
Andrew Bruckner added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Denson finished with 17 points, 6 steals and 3 assists. In his first game of the season, C.J. Tillman had 12 points, 11 of them in the first half.
