
LANCERS WIN SIXTH STRAIGHT

RIVERSIDE, Calif. ? Shi Fei had a match-high 15 kills as California Baptist moved one game closer to locking up second place in the Golden State Athletic Conference as it defeated San Diego Christian 3-0 (30-17, 30-25, 30-28). The Lancers (23-3, 16-2 GSAC) recorded their sixth straight sweep with the win over the Hawks (6-21, 0-16 GSAC).
Brittney Barton recorded double-digits in kills with 12 and was just two digs short of a double-double with eight. Caitlin Parker, Courtney McGuire and Kayla Van Duyn split setting duties with Parker recording 16 assists, McGuire had 15 and Van Duyn had 13. Katrina Clark had 10 digs and Melissa Short had three blocks.
CBU blew game one wide open with a 10-2 run to take a 20-7 lead and cruised from there on. In the second game the Lancers led 21-19 and used a 6-1 run to gain a little cushion before closing out the game. In the final game, CBU trailed 25-20, but answered with a 6-1 run to tie the game at 26-26. Fei and Short put the game away with back-to-back kills breaking a 28-28 tie.
The Lancers return to Van Dyne Gymnasium, Tuesday, to take on Vanguard for senior night at 7 p.m. CBU will then close the regular season at Biola, Nov. 10, before playing in the first round of the NAIA Region II Tournament.
