MALIBU, Calif. ? Josh Harris scored at hat trick, Saturday, as No. 20 California Baptist fell to No. 5 Pepperdine, 13-9. The Lancers (22-12) fell in an early 3-0 hole and never could get within more than two against the Waves (23-6).
Chris Morgan and Aaron Steiger both added a pair of goals while Ryan Steiger and Alex Shorts added single goals.
The Waves scored the first three goals of the game until Shorts gave the Lancers their first goal of the game, but Pepperdine answered with another goal to lead 4-1 at the end of the first quarter. Chris Morgan made it 4-2 and Harris made it 5-3, but the Waves finished the half with a 3-1 run to take an 8-4 lead at the half.
Pepperdine opened the second half with a pair of goals, but CBU answered back with back-to-back goals from Harris. The Waves took a 12-7 lead before both Steigers added a goal to make it 12-9, but it was too little too late for CBU.
The Lancers return to action Wednesday for the final home contest in the regular season when it hosts Concordia at 3 p.m.
