The Lancers win their 10th straight and improve to 13-1 on the season. It was their third win over
Sara Goforth and Chantal Millard had back-to-back RBI singles in the third inning, as the Lancers struck first in the third inning. Shawna Rainwater got the rally started by drawing a leadoff walk, followed by a free pass to Sarah Hurlbut to put 2 runners aboard with no outs.
It was the only damage California Baptist was able to do to Rebel starter Haley Schumers (8-5), who allowed only 3 hits, walked 4 and gave up 2 earned runs but took the loss despite fanning 9 Lancers.
Candice Thomas went 7 shutout innings, giving up just 5 hits and striking out 6 without issuing a walk to improve to 6-1 on the campaign.
The Lancers plated 15 runs on as many hits in support of a combined 3-hit shutout from Amy Thomas and Lisa Herbertson, as CBU pounded
Geanie Jenkins singled in a pair of runs after the Lancers loaded the bases in the first inning, and CBU was in business right away, as Nikki Lowe, who had walked, scored on a double play to make the score 3-0.
Lowe was at the center of action in the second inning, as the Lancers built up a 12-0 lead with a 9-run frame. With the bases loaded, she doubled to centerfield and came all the way around to score on a throwing error that made the lead 7-0. CBU wasn't finished putting runs on the board, however, as Karina Slauenwhite and Sarah Hurlbut each ripped a 2-run double, and Courtney Weber plated Hurlbut with a run-scoring single to make the score 12-0.
Lowe's 2-run homer in the fourth inning made the final score 15-0 after Cassandrah Carreon's sacrifice fly drove home a run in the third.
Joelle Riekeman was chased after 1.1 innings. She took the loss to drop to 0-6 after allowing 8 runs (6 earned) on 7 hits and 2 walks.
