Goins dazzled what was the GSAC's third-best hitting team Saturday, limiting Fresno Pacific, which came into the game hitting .322, to just 3 hits. He carried a perfect game into the sixth inning before giving up a leadoff double and finished with his second complete-game, shutout in his past 3 outings.
In 9 innings of work, Goins did not allow a walk while striking out a career-high 14. On the season, Goins leads the GSAC with 70 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. He has also given up just 17 walks.
Three weeks ago, he surrendered just one hit in a complete-game shutout of Vanguard while striking out what was then a career-high 12.
