RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- All-GSAC Sophomore Spenser Steele scored two goals to lead California Baptist to a 6-0 win over neighboring La Sierra late Saturday night.
The win is the Lancers' second straight as they conclude their non-conference slate at 4-2-1 heading into GSAC play next Saturday when they host the NAIA's No. 2-ranked Concordia.
In a game that didn't even kickoff until 8 p.m., CBU jumped on the Golden Eagles quickly and often. Andy Doyle scored his first career goal to get things started in the 24th minute off an assist from Cesar Reyes.
Reyes then doubled the margin just four minutes later with a score off a free kick. Steele then followed up with a pair of goals in the 32nd and 34th minutes to give the Lancers a 4-0 halftime lead.
Tim Wardell, who assisted on Steele's second goal, scored his third of the season in the 89th minute from an assist by Chris Dierker. David Nolan then rounded out the scoring with his first career goal in the 90th minute.
Senior keeper Adam Kramer made five saves to record his second shutout of the season. The Lancers out-shot La Sierra, 28-10.
