FRESNO, Calif. ? A fourth quarter surge pushed California Baptist past Fresno Pacific in a 14-6 win as the Lancers stay undefeated against NAIA teams.
Nine different Lancers (23-9) found the back of the net including Chris Morgan who scored a pair of goals and added three assists and four steals.
Aaron Steiger scored a game-high four goals and notched a steal. Alex Shorts also netted a pair of goals while Chris Gwinn, Jason Bills, Alan Ogden, Norbert Karoly, Chris Toy and Brent Troutman all scored solo goals.
Toy and Bills both posted at least a goal, assist and steal as Toy added three assists and two steals while Bills recorded one assist and one steal. Troutman and Ogden also combined for seven steals as Troutman notched a game-high four steals.
The Lancers jumped out in front taking a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter before increasing their lead to 7-3 at the half. CBU led 9-5 heading into the fourth, but blew the game open in the final quarter scoring five goals.
CBU was 14-for-36 (.389) from the field and was 5-for-10 on 6-on-5 attempts. CBU held the Sunbirds to just one 6-on-5 goal in three chances.
The Lancers now head to Stockton, Calif., for a 7 p.m. game against No. 16 Pacific.
