CLAREMONT, Calif. ? Aaron Steiger scored six goals as 10 different players from California Baptist found the back of the net in a pair of wins over UC Santa Cruz and Cal Lutheran
The Lancers (21-7) opened the day with a 13-9 win over the Banana Slugs before taking down the Kingsmen, 16-9.
Steiger opened the day by scoring four goals against Santa Cruz and closed out the Claremont Convergence with a pair of goals against Cal Lutheran. The sophomore also had four steals against the Banana Slugs and posted a pair of steals and an assist against the Kingsmen.
Jason Bills, Chris Morgan and Brent Troutman all chipped in with a pair of goals against Santa Cruz and Alan Ogden, Nick Schofield and Chris Toy all scored single goals. Morgan also added three assists and three steals. Zach Bowman posted seven saves.
The Lancers led 5-3 at the end of the first and pushed their lead to 7-4 at the half. CBU turned up the offense in the third to take an 11-6 lead into the fourth before closing it out.
California Baptist was 3-for-7 on 6-on-5 opportunities and shot 44.8 percent against UCSC.
Peter Hines led the way for the Lancers against Cal Lutheran with his third hat trick of the year. Morgan, Ogden, Alex Shorts and Troutman all scored two goals while Chris Gwinn, Schofield and Toy scored solo goals.
Morgan dished out a trio of assists while Gwinn and Troutman each posted two steals. Bowman and Dylan Cox combined for six saves.
The Lancers outscored CLU 9-4 in the first half and 7-5 in the second. CBU went 3-for-5 on 6-on-5 opportunities while holding the Kingsmen to 0-for-3 on their 6-on-5 chances.
California Baptist will now get set to host No. 13 St. Francis (N.Y.), Thursday at 3 p.m.
