On a chilly morning at the Lancer Aquatics Center, CBU took an early 2-0 lead over the Sagehens. However, their advantage was short lived as Pomona-Pitzer evened the score at 2-2 just six and a half minutes into the first quarter. The Lancers scored again to take a 3-2 edge, but with one second left in the quarter, the Sagehens knotted the score at 3-3.
Pomona-Pitzer scored just two minutes into the second quarter, taking a 4-3 advantage over CBU, and the Sagehens never relinquished that lead. The Lancers did not let the Sagehens pull away though, as the CBU was only down one goal at the half, 5-4.
The Sagehens stretched their lead to five by the end of the third quarter, but the Lancers gained some momentum in the start of the fourth quarter, but were not able to muster a comeback, falling to Pomona-Pitzer.
Aaron Steiger led the Lancers with three goals on the day. Freshman Austen Ramer added 11 saves to his season total.
The Lancers will be in action again October 17 in Irvine, California. The game against UC Irvine is set to begin at 6 p.m.
