SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- The NAIA's No. 5-ranked California Baptist University flexed its nationally-ranked muscle and rolled to an easy 9-0 sweep of unranked Westmont Saturday afternoon at the Abbott Tennis Courts.
The win moves the Lancers to 3-1 overall, 2-1 GSAC, while the Warriors fall to 1-5, 0-3.
The Lancers were never tested in putting together their most convincing win of the young season. They put together their strongest effort in doubles' play this year, sweeping through the Warriors on all three courts. All three wins were 8-3 or better. In Thursday's 7-2 win over No. 3 Azusa Pacific, the Lancers dropped two of three doubles' matches.
All six singles' matches were won in straight sets. Lucas Pereira at No. 3 won 6-0, 6-0. All-American Carlos Cirne-Lima won at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1. Martin Vaisse at No. 4 won 6-2, 6-0, and Gabor Toth at No. 6 won 6-0, 6-1.
