TURLOCK, Calif. --- After shooting a school-record 285 in yesterday's second round to move within four strokes of second, California Baptist University struggled its way to a final round 329 Tuesday and finished sixth at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational.
The Lancers' 54-hole total of 914 (300-285-329) was just three strokes away from St. Martin's (Wash.), which finished fifth. Tournament-host Cal State Stanislaus won the event despite shooting a final round 309. The Warriors finished with an 882 (294-279-309), three strokes ahead of Cal State San Bernardino, who shot the only sub-300 round today.
Ivan Fuganti, who was in second heading into today's final round, shot an 82 and finished 14th with a 223. Andrew Falero was three shots behind and finished 16th with a 226 (74-71-81).
Marcelo Souza finished 24th with a 229 (77-70-82). Fernando Menendez had a 238 (76-76-86), and Bradley Strzelczyk carded a 246 (81-81-84). Carl-Johan Stjarnfalt finished 24th with a 229 (76-75-78) while playing as an individual.
There were 16 teams in the field, 12 of which were NCAA Division II teams. Four of those 12 are nationally-ranked.
