
Abercrombie Leads Lancers to Second Place, While Securing Second Place Individually

EL MACERO, CA--- The California Baptist men's golf teams wrapped up regular-season conference play with an impressive finish at the El Macero Classic, posting a second-place finish as a team, as Jared Abercrombie ended his individual play in second place as well. The second-place finish for TL Brown's squad was the best of the season, marking CBU's third top-three finish.
Andy Yang kicked off the tournament strong for the Lancers after shooting 1-under during the first 18 holes, tied with Lorenzo Lombardozzi. The second round of the day saw Abercrombie kick into high gear with a 69, pushing himself into a top-10 individual position. Yang finished the second round even with par, while Kurtis Rodriguez had his best round of the tournament after shooting 72 as well.
The final round of the tournament secured the second-place individual finish for Abercrombie, as the sophomore shot 4-under to end his weekend with a total of 5-under. Ka'ena Kaulia ended his final round even with par, good for a 22nd-place finish. Yang secured 12th place, while Rodriguez finished in 61st and Lombardozzi ended in 90th.
As a team, the Lancers finished tied for second on par 4s as they averaged 4.20 through the tournament. The Lancers also ranked second in eagles with three through the 54 holes. Abercombie led the way with an average of 3.93 on par 4s for the players through the tournament.
California Baptist will now turn its attention to the Western Athletic Conference Tournament, which is set for the end of April in Texas.
