
Abercrombie Finishes Third as CBU Places Sixth at UCSD Invitational

SAN DIEGO, CA--- The California Baptist men's golf program headed down to the UC San Diego Invitational and placed sixth of 17 programs after shooting 2-under as a team. Jared Abercrombie led the Lancers individually, finishing third of 104 golfers. The top-10 finish marks their seventh of the season.
The first round of the three-day tournament was the most successful across the board for the Lancers. Kurtis Rodriguez began his San Diego week with a 70 through the first 18, while Jared Abercrombie and Lorenzo Lombardozzi shot even with par. The second round of the week saw Abercrombie take command of a top-three spot after he shot a 68 for his lowest round of the weekend. Lombardozzi shot 2-under during his second round, and Andy Yang shot a 71 to cap off Monday.
Abercombie ended his incredible tournament with a 69 during the final frame, and Rodriguez bounced back with a clean 72 to put a bow on the final day, securing 43rd place individually. Lombardozzi earned a 25th place, while Yang finished in 63rd. Bryden Brown wrapped up the team with a 69th finish.
The Lancers finished tied for third in team pars and tied for fifth in par threes. Abercrombie led the tournament in par fours and tied for third in birdies with 15.
California Baptist will wrap up the regular season with a trip to the El Macero Invitational hosted by UC Davis during the second week of April.
