SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. --- Dylan Cataline (149) picked up a pin, and Alex Evers (285) earned a decision, but that was it for California Baptist University as the Lancers dropped a 30-9 decision at NCAA Division II No. 14-ranked San Francisco State Friday afternoon.
The loss snaps the Lancers' dual match winning streak, which was at seven straight. They fall to 10-9.
The Gators improve to 4-8 and enact revenge on the Lancers, who defeated then No. 8 SFSU, 19-15, back on Jan. 21 in Riverside.
Evers got things started with a 7-5 decision over Anthony Gonzalez at 285 pounds, giving the Lancers a 3-0 lead. However, the Gators won the next three matches, getting three-point decisions at 125 and 133 before Naveed Bagheri pinned Ethan Hall in 2:23 to give SFSU a 12-3 lead.
Cataline got the Lancers back on the board when he pinned Dylan Phillipy with 19 seconds left in his 149-pound match, bringing CBU within 12-9, but that was as close as they got as the Gators recorded a trio of decisions, a major decision and a technical fall in the final five matches.
Three of the Lancers' decisions they lost were by just three points.
