PRIMM VALLEY, Calif. --- In the first day of the Spring Break Collegiate tournament hosted by California Baptist University play was stopped after 18 holes due to weather conditions.
With the wind gusting over 55 mph and being constant at 25-30 mph the second round of the day was cancelled. This means that all teams will play 18 holes both today and tomorrow.
"The wind was just brutal today," said Head Coach Lane Pace. "It made it really tough to shape a ball and even harder to putt. We should be able to produce better scores tomorrow and make a good run at the leader board."
CBU is currently in fifth with a team score of 306. Texas A&M-Commerce is in first with a team score of 297. Both Dixie State and Johnson & Wales are tied for second with scores at 300. California Lutheran is up by one stroke against the Lancers at fourth with a 305.
Every Lancer recorded under an 80 on the day, Tim Tait led the Lancers with a 74. Steven Watson finished with a 75 and Leonard Rooney shot a 78. Both Fredrick Hannson and Micah Machado finished with a 79. The course was a par 71.
Cade Grimm from Texas A&M-commerce is the current leader in the tournament with a 70.
California Baptist University's "B" team finished with a 337. Marshall McBroom led the Lancers "B" team with a 79.
The second round will resume tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
