PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- While it may not have been California Baptist University's tournament, the Lancers made the Embry-Riddle Mile High Open their own by producing four of the 10 champions Saturday. Alex Anunciation, Matt Hickman, Bradley Christiansen and Paul Head all won their respect weight classes to start CBU's road trip on a high note.
Nineteen Lancers placed in the top-16 of the Mile High Open Saturday, with 10 producing medal finishes. Trent Smith, Peter Cunningham, Daniel Urban, Bradley Beaudette and David Dill went runner-up and Marty Vardanian finished third in his CBU debut.
Just like the wrestling world, the Lancers' focus will turn to the Cliff Keen Open. CBU will hope for some more impressive performances at the primarily NCAA Division I tournament, which attracts some of the biggest names in collegiate wrestling.
