LA MIRADA, Calif. — While preparing for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships, California Baptist University headed out to Biola for a one last tuneup on Saturday.
The Lancers won 11 events they participated in to beat out the three other teams: Fresno Pacific 192-94, Concordia 189-72 and Biola 208-46.
Two of CBU's events came in relay form as the Lancers took the 200-yard medley relay with the help of Mary Hanson, Alena Rumiantceva, Kristina Tchernyschev and Yosita Hapsari, clocking in at a minute and 44.18 seconds. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, CBU (Hailey Golden, Tchernyschev, Robin Smallwood and Hapsari) again touched first with a time of 3:35.34.
Christie Halverson took home the 1650 yard-freestyle finishing up at 18:01.45 and beating out Fresno Pacific. Smallwood also claimed an individual win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.85) and Kylie Mihld took the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.27).
Rumiantceva won the women's 100-yard backstroke, finishing up in 1:03.73, and the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:22.34, while Courtney Chacon finished the 200-yard butterfly in 2:07.44 seconds.
Rounding out the individual wins for CBU were Mary Hanson with the 100-yard freestyle (52.63 seconds), Hapsari with the 200-yard back (2:09.68), and Terwilliger with the 100-yard butterfly (57.61 seconds).
CBU heads out to Colorado Spring, Colo., from Feb. 11 to 14, for the conference championship, looking to find more success than last year.
