RIVERSIDE, Calif. — California Baptist University kept its home record unblemished with another victory at the Riverside City Cross Country Course Saturday morning, despite tough competition from fellow PacWest schools Concordia (Irvine), Dixie State and Hawaii Pacific.
As the final preview for the conference championship meet held Oct. 24 on the same course, CBU produced seven of the top 12 runners. Last year the Lancers won the PacWest championship and have hopes of repeating the feat in a few weeks.
Alana Enabnit led the Lancers to the finish line, placing third behind runners from Dixie State and Concordia with a time of 22 minutes, 4.18 seconds. Enabnit was poised throughout the race and matched it with a competitive drive to end the invitational with a fine performance to help CBU grab 28 points, 27 points less than runner-up HPU.
"Team-wise it was really good effort," Enabnit said. "I feel blessed to be a part of this team and I wanted to go after it and get the win today."
Berenice Cleyet-Merle (22:13.56), Claire Rainey (22:22.00), Katie Deimling (22:36.00), Emeline Delanis (22:42.16) and Kim Rabenstein (22:48.24) all put in excellent perfromances and finished in the top ten.
"We accomplished our goals today," head coach Ben Gall said. " We still have somethings to solidify before the regional meet but it was a great performance."
The Lancers travel to Northern California to take part in the San Francisco State Invitational where they will look to continue the current form they are in and build momentum heading into the postseason.
