RIVERSIDE, Calif. — For the second-straight year, California Baptist University picked up the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Year in Josh Hanson. Six other Lancers also joined the junior on the conference's All-Academic teams.
Hanson, an electrical/computer engineering major, was voted on by the RMAC sports information directors as a first-team selection along with Corey Stein (pre-mechanical engineering) and Mitchell Sweetman (mechanical engineering). Four other Lancers earned honor roll distinctions: Andrew Rotundo (business administration), Kendall Rummell (business administration), Brent Teraoka (health science) and Derek Wedel (civil engineering).
To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and have completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. The student-athlete's cumulative GPA is what they had earned prior to swimming & diving season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools which sponsor the sport of men's or women's swimming & diving selected the first team.
The Lancers had a successful year in the water during their second season as a fully-fledged NCAA Division II member. CBU took second as a team at the conference meet and went on to finish 10th overall in all of NCAA Division II.
